Please join Covington and MEACA for and in-person discussion on

Emerging Risks for MEA Companies under U.S. Anti-Terrorism and Human Rights Laws

The Middle East & Africa Compliance Association (MEACA) and Covington invite you to an in-person discussion and networking event on 13 May 2025 at the Lana in Dubai.

The session will focus on recent actions by the Trump Administration targeting Foreign Terrorist Organizations, and how those actions impact companies operating across the Middle East and Africa. We will also cover emerging risks under U.S. human rights laws, including civil lawsuits under the Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act.

The discussion will feature insights from Ben Haley who leads Covington’s Compliance and Investigations Practice in MEA and John Hall, Chair of Covington’s Global Litigation Practice. They will address topics such as:
  • How will the Trump Administration’s recent actions impact companies that are not headquartered or operating in the United States?
  • Risks of criminal liability under federal anti-terrorism laws.
  • Risks of civil liability under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act.
  • Where should companies be focusing their compliance program enhancement efforts?
After the event, we hope you will join us for a networking reception at Jara Bar.

This event is closed to the press and other law firms.
